Zoom trackpad controls.

The two actions you need in a call are mute and screenshot. Put them on the trackpad and stop hunting for the menu.

Zoom is a call app, not a document app. The trackpad is mostly idle during a call, which makes it a good place for the two actions you need without looking: mute and screenshot.

The Zoom scene puts mute on a two-finger tap and the top-right corner, and a screenshot on a three-finger tap. The rest of the surface stays available for the system actions.

Built-in scene mapping. “Scene” means the app overrides the default; “Default” means the fallback action is used. Check the scene in the app before you edit it.

How to apply it

  1. Open TrackStudio and select the Zoom scene.
  2. Check mute on the two-finger tap and the top-right corner. Both do the same thing so you can find one without looking.
  3. Use the three-finger tap for a screenshot. Keep the bottom-left corner for Show Desktop if you need to hide the call quickly.

Where it stops

Make the trackpad do more than point.

TrackStudio maps edges, corners, areas, gestures, and haptics to the app in front of you. $5 once. No subscription, no account.

Questions

Does this work in Zoom?

Yes. The Zoom scene binds to us.zoom.xos and sends mute and screenshot actions.

Can I mute without the Zoom window?

The scene works when Zoom is the frontmost app. If another app is in front, that app's scene is active.

Does it work in Google Meet?

Not with the Zoom scene. Meet runs in a browser, so it uses the browser scene. Add a separate scene for the browser if you want call actions there.

Does it need Accessibility permission?

The mute action uses Zoom's own shortcut. Accessibility is needed for actions that synthesize keyboard events or move windows.
