Spotify trackpad controls.
Spotify already has keyboard shortcuts. A scene makes the same four actions work from the trackpad, per app.
Spotify is a separate app from Music, with its own bundle identifier and its own playback state. That is why it gets its own scene: the same four gestures should control the app that is actually playing.
The layout is the same as Music because the job is the same. The difference is the binding. When Spotify is frontmost, the Spotify scene wins; when Music is frontmost, Music wins.
What the scene does
| Trigger | Action | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Top-left corner | Mission Control | Default |
| Top-right corner | Mute | Default |
| Bottom-left corner | Show Desktop | Default |
| Bottom-right corner | App Switcher | Default |
| Two-finger tap | Play / Pause | Scene |
| Two-finger swipe left | Previous track | Scene |
| Two-finger swipe right | Next track | Scene |
| Three-finger tap | Mute | Scene |
| Three-finger swipe up | Mission Control | Default |
| Four-finger tap | Open TrackStudio | Default |
Built-in scene mapping. “Scene” means the app overrides the default; “Default” means the fallback action is used. Check the scene in the app before you edit it.
How to apply it
- Open TrackStudio and select the Spotify scene.
- Check the two-finger gestures: tap for play/pause, swipe left for previous, swipe right for next.
- Use the edges for volume and brightness. If you also use Apple Music, keep both scenes; the frontmost app selects the right one.
Where it stops
- No queue or playlist actions. The scene covers playback, not library management.
- No like/save action. Spotify's own shortcuts are not exposed as scene actions.
- No podcast-specific controls. The same four actions apply to music and podcasts.
Make the trackpad do more than point.
TrackStudio maps edges, corners, areas, gestures, and haptics to the app in front of you. $5 once. No subscription, no account.

Does this work with the Spotify desktop app?
Yes. The scene binds to com.spotify.client and sends the app's playback actions.
Can I use it with the web player?
The web player runs in a browser, so it uses the browser scene. Add the browser as a scene if you want separate actions there.
Does it conflict with Apple Music?
No. Each app has its own scene, and TrackStudio selects the scene for the frontmost app. Only one is active at a time.
Does it need a Spotify subscription?
No. The scene controls playback; it does not unlock Spotify features. Free accounts can use the same play/pause and skip actions.
